CVMF - September 2024

To our veterans, donors, and partners, the Campbell Veterans Memorial Foundation (CVMF) is pleased to present this Newsletter about the Foundation’s activities, plans, and important events for 2024.

Our Mission

CVMF’s Mission is to honor and support local veterans.

We raise awareness of their contributions to this nation and our community, provide college scholarships and educational opportunities, and maintain this elegant Memorial that reflects our eternal respect and admiration for their service.

Memorial Enhancement Concept

CVMF is excited about the Memorial Enhancement Concept. A brand new sign invites people to gaze upon a tranquil sea of white and gray gravel embracing the majestic Olive Tree. The scene creates an air of serenity, befitting the distinguished location. Masterfully designed and rendered by Bill Gould, AIA AIP (Artik Arts and Architecture), and Mike Repanich, the enhanced Memorial concept will evolve into a world-class destination point serving Campbell residents and visitors who wish to pay respects to our local military heroes.

Anatomica by Hana Lock, Triton Museum, Santa Clara, CA

Ken Estep and Harold Hervey impressed the San Jose Silicon Valley Rotary Club with a welcome presentation at the magnificent Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara in September. The museum’s exquisite and moving art perfectly complemented CVMF’s inspiring speeches, making the event a memorable collaboration of beauty and Mission. Kudos to the Triton Museum for providing such a stunning venue and to the SJSV Rotary Club for hosting an unforgettable opportunity to make our case!

Remember to join us on Veterans Day, November 11, at 9:00 AM on the City Green as we honor the brave men and women who served our nation. CVMF will host a heartfelt tribute to our local veterans, providing an opportunity for you to connect with them and our esteemed community leaders. We are honored to have numerous local officials like Campbell Mayor Susan Landry in attendance. The CVMF Board is more than delighted to announce that the Honorable Anna Eshoo will be our Keynote Speaker, marking a grand conclusion to her distinguished career as our U.S. House Representative for District 16.

Hear Ye! Hear Yee. To one and all in the Bay Area.

The grand evening is nigh at hand.  Beautiful ladies wrapped in their finest evening ensembles accompanied by handsome gentlemen in silk bow ties will gather for an elegant evening of joyous giving and revelry.

We are delighted to announce that West Valley/Mission College Chancellor Brad Davis will be our esteemed Keynote Speaker. In addition to a galaxy of local luminaries who will bedeck the halls of our Gala, there will be lively auctions, prizes, and libations aplenty.

It’s the hottest ticket in town, so don’t miss your chance to hobnob with the local gentry.

Frank Jewett, Ken Estep, and Harold Hervey had the honor of being invited by the Almaden Valley/Willow Glen Rotary Club to share our story at the legendary Rookies Sports Lodge in Willow Glen. Picture this: burgers and fries as our trusty sidekicks while we entertained the amazing Rotary members with tales of how CVMF supports veteran students and their families. A huge shoutout to Ken Tavernier and the AMWG Rotary team for that great lunch. You folks rock!

CVMF Feeding the 12th Man

We followed up that fun event with another. CVMF’s squad of culinary cowboys from San Jose State University helped the 49ers snag big wins over the New York Jets and Patriots in September. How? By ensuring our 12th Man (Season Ticket Holders) at Levi’s Stadium was well-stuffed and cheering happily like there was no tomorrow! We dished hundreds of mouth-watering hot dogs, a mountain of hot, buttery popcorn, a ton of nachos smothered in zesty cheese, and enough beer and soda to fill an Olympic swimming pool. Without all that tasty grub, our 12th Man would’ve been too hungry to holler. And a huge shoutout to JR McKee and the Kiwanis Club of Campbell for letting us bask in the glory!

We look forward to seeing you at Oktoberfest, October 19th and 20th. Visit Booth 324 and bring some beers for us. We'll need it.
